An Army of women film screening

  • Easton Community Centre Easton BS5 6AW United Kingdom (map)

Having watched the inspiring film 'An Army of Women', the Girlhood Reclaimed team is bringing this important documentary to the local community, sparking vital conversations around misogyny and sexual violence, themes of justice, including criminal justice, and the joy found in feminist activism.

The film follows lawyers and plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit over four years. Amongst them are plaintiff Marina Garrett, who was raped by a stranger in a parking garage, and plaintiff Hanna Senko, who was date raped by an acquaintance. Both women's cases were dismissed by law enforcement. The film chronicles the group's journey as they sue the Austin Police Department and Travis County District Attorney's Office, ultimately ending in a historic settlement that forced police and prosecutors to change how they handle the crime of sexual assault.

The screening will be held at Easton Community Centre on Tuesday, 22nd July from 7pm.

Low and no cost tickets available via Headfirst Bristol here: https://hdfst.uk/e132465

The screening will be followed by an expert panel discussion around the key themes.
