Girls and Safety: Research briefing Paper 2025

In 2024, Rae completed her Master’s Degree in Women and Child Abuse (MA). Her dissertation focused on how young women and girls experienced their safety and safety work. This briefing paper examines the key themes illuminated by the focus groups that Rae facilitated as part of this dissertation research.

The experiences shared by the girls who participated in these focus groups inspired the inception of Girlhood Reclaimed. Their voices, and the voices of all the girls and children of marginalised genders we have since worked with, shape our training, workshops, and approaches.

It is our hope that this paper provides you, the reader, with greater insight into the importance of Girlhood' Reclaimed’s work and mission.
