We are setting up an Intergenerational Advisory Board to support and help shape our work.

We believe that bringing together the voices of adults and young people, passionate about disrupting misogyny and its harms, will make Girlhood Reclaimed stronger and better able to deliver meaningful change.

We are recruiting 6 young board members (aged 14–19) who are women, girls, or gender-diverse young people.

The role of the Board:

The Advisory Board's purpose will be to support Girlhood Reclaimed's directors on the challenges we present to you. As a small team, we know the value that a diverse range of perspectives, expertise, and lived experience produces.

We specialise in centring the voices of the young people most harmed by gender inequality and misogyny and so our Board will share our commitment to uplifting the voices of its young members, sharing power equitably amongst everyone.

What will happen when we meet:

At our bi-monthly (8 weekly) in-person meetings, we will outline any arising issues we are facing as an organisation, and ask you to be our critical, reflective, curious and expert friends, helping us to find solutions to strategic or operational challenges.

We will want to know what you think, what we are missing, or haven't considered. Together you will be our sounding board, able to offer fresh perspectives, advice and guidance.

You:

You will be curious about disrupting the harm of misogyny in the lives of young women, girls and gender-diverse young people. You will be a great team player, confident in sharing your voice but also able to listen well to others and share power. You will be able to commit to the role as outlined above and do not foresee any reason why this commitment would not be feasible for the next 12 months. You will have the means to travel to and from our meeting-space in central Bristol.

Commitment:

We ask that you commit to meet in-person in a central Bristol location with each other and the directors of Girlhood Reclaimed for 2 hours, once every 2 months for a minimum of one year. Meetings will be on a weekday early evening, and we will provide food and drinks!

There will be no 'homework' as part of this role, and any decisions or insights will be taken away by the directors to action.

How we will use the Board's advice:

We will take your ideas on board and always keep in you in the loop, feeding back on any developments we have made based on your advice at the beginning of the next meeting.

We might not be able to take on everything you advise, but we are creating this Board because we deeply value hearing from young people and those with expertise and we are excited to create a space that facilitates shared ideas and learning.

Every applicant will meet individually with Girlhood Reclaimed’s directors to discuss being part of the board. After we have met, we will make the decision on whether this is the right fit for you.
