Primary schools Projects

At Girlhood Reclaimed, we see first-hand the impact of creating safe spaces for girls to explore their daily experiences of gendered harm. They tell us how much it means to them to be heard, to be believed, and to be supported in making sense of these experiences.

Together we disrupt this harm, build resistance and nurture connection.

We call this joyful girlhood.

pRIMARY SCHOOL pILOT PROJECT

Since we launched in 2024, our projects have been primarily focussed on ages 11+, within youth club, secondary school, and sixth form college settings.

However, invited by the Southmead Development Trust and Badock’s Wood Primary School to work with a small group of their year 6 girls, we reimagined our intervention for a younger cohort.

In the Spring of 2026, we had our first session and ‘The Discombobulated Girls’ were formed. We spent the next seven Wednesday afternoons with the eight girls, exploring themes such as friendship, gender, harm, wellbeing, safety, and freedom.

You can read about this pilot project here.

If you work with primary school age students who may benefit from understanding the everyday harms of misogyny in a safe, trauma-informed way which builds joy and community, please get in touch.

Testimonials

  • Key Link Worker, Badocks Wood Primary School

“I think this work is so important, especially when there is such a resurgence in sexualised violence against young women. Rae and Tatiana did amazing at keeping the sessions informative and following the children's experiences of sexism and misogyny, while also bringing in joy, resistance and hopefulness.

I wish I had this education in school to give some understanding to early experiences, and I hope this is an opportunity more young girls have.”
